The Cure

Heaven or Hell.

Life for death.

We choose.

In our culture today the idea of hell is offensive. The idea that Jesus is the only way to heaven, is offensive.

Let’s talk for a moment.

What if I had a cure for suffering? A cure for the most terminal cancer, for Alzheimer’s and dementia, for ASL for Lou Gehrig’s disease for Parkinson’s disease which slowly takes the person over many years. What if I had a cure for MS? What if I found one thing that would ease all suffering on this planet?

Would that be offensive?

Most of you would say absolutely not! Tell me what it is! Please!

But there are some that would be offended.

Men and women who studied all their lives spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on education. Years and years, sacrificing and focusing only on their study. So that, they could treat patients with Parkinson’s disease or cancer or MS. And they know the treatments. They’ve seen success. They’ve seen life prolonged but yet, their patient still dies in the end. And along the way they suffer.

The suffering may come and go. They may have ease of symptoms for a time, but there is no cure. There’s no guarantee that it will be completely cured, that it will be taken away and never come back.

The same is true with Jesus.

Jesus is the cure.

He is the one and only cure for the suffering that we endure in this life.

You see, our bodies are mortal, but our spirit and our soul are eternal. And no matter how much education, no matter what we do in this life, nothing changes that.

And some will say God doesn’t exist. That Jesus was just merely a man, that there are many paths to Heaven.

They become offended at the idea that there’s only one way. That there is only one cure. Because they have ideas, that they have put time, effort and money into; to be where they are and who they are. Just like those doctors who have studied the disease all their life but yet, can’t ultimately heal their patient’s suffering; not permanently, but Jesus can.

You see, if I had a cure for suffering and the doctors didn’t believe in it, it doesn’t matter. If the patient believes in it and accepts it, then they’re cured.

Our eternal life is the same, there are those around us that don’t believe that Jesus is the only way, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s truth. And He is the only cure. People can choose not to believe, not to accept and that’s their choice.

But for those who choose Him, they receive life.

They receive the cure.

John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

John 10:10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
